uNivUS: The mobile gateway to a more connected and vibrant student experience
Since its launch in April 2020, the uNivUS app has evolved from its key role in managing the Covid-19 situation into a one-stop platform for a wide array of NUS services. Besides gathering essential NUS systems and services under the ‘Explore’ section of the app, uNivUS has also introduced new capabilities aimed at enhancing the overall student experience.
Smartbuy: A Step Towards Procurement Excellence at NUS
At NUS, procurement has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past three years, bidding farewell to outdated practices. Gone are the days of the search for three quotations from different companies to facilitate a simplified quotation or the cumbersome processes of initiating Invitation To Tender (ITT) or Invitation To Quote (ITQ) for high-value acquisitions once a year.
NUS STARS 2024: Hitting the mark in work and life
It was a dark and stormy night, but the inaugural Darts competition organised by the NUS STARS (Staff Talent in Athletics and Recreational Sports) got off to a rousing start on 6 March 2024. Rounding up the year on the courts with NUS STARS 2023 Sports Extravaganza
The NUS STARS (Staff Talent in Athletics and Recreational Sports) programme was launched in July this year by the Office of Human Resources (OHR), to promote an active lifestyle through competitive sports and reignite the sporting spirit amongst NUS staff. Basketball and badminton tournaments were held in early November and over 150 staff members from various academic, research and administrative departments participated in the games.
Leading the charge at Campus Security Operations
Keeping us safe on NUS Campuses is a round-the-clock affair and Teenesh S/O Thanabalan, Security Operations Manager, Campus Emergency and Security (CES) has been up for the task since joining the University a year ago. He coordinates security operations with a team of over 30 security officers, including ancillary security, to maintain a safe and secure environment for the campus community.
Defining the future of connectedness with NUSNET6
NUS IT celebrated a big win at the 7th IDC Future Enterprise Awards 2023 in October – an award recognising Singapore’s most outstanding innovators. NUS IT won in the category of “Best in Future of Connectedness” for its work on NUSNET6.

The recently concluded Digital Enablement Star Awards recognised individuals among us who have made a positive impact on the NUS community by inspiring and encouraging the adoption of these tools into their business processes.
A guiding beacon for Human Resources management strategies
The NUS Office of Human Resources warmly welcomed a group of 29 delegates from the Human Resource Committee of Public Universities Malaysia, guiding them through a half-day programme on HR strategies at NUS. Delegates got a bird’s-eye view of the practices within NUS, as well as possible concepts and practices that they could adapt and implement into their own university HR practices.

The NUS Centre for Future-Ready Graduates (CFG) shares two digital tools that play a pivotal role in equipping students to be career-ready.
Agility Network Launches as Newest NUS CoP
The NUS Agility Network, launched in March 2023, is the latest Community of Practice (CoP) established in various industries and interest areas to provide support, resources and networking for their members. It brings together NUS staff with an interest in increasing the University’s efficiency and responsiveness in an evolving higher education landscape.
NUS STARS Run 2023: Fostering active lifestyles and camaraderie among staff
The inaugural NUS STARS (Staff Talent in Athletics and Recreational Sports) programme, organised by the Office of Human Resources (OHR), kicked off with a 3.5km run across the Kent Ridge Campus on 22 July 2023. The NUS STARS programme aims to promote an active lifestyle through competitive sports and reignite the sporting spirit amongst NUS staff.
Digitalising the Student Admissions Process
To handle an increase in the number of student applications received and the challenging circumstances created by COVID-19, the NUS Business School Master of Science Programmes incorporated a digital interviewing solution from startup Astronaut Technologies into their admissions process, saving approximately 100 man-hours during a single admission cycle.
NUS Tech Sandbox: Inspiring Administrative Innovation
To help inspire the administration at the National University of Singapore (NUS) to embrace a more innovative mindset, while also finding solutions to the University’s pain points, the NUS Tech Sandbox was piloted in mid-2022 by Mr Clarence Ti, NUS Deputy President (Administration). The initiative is meant to drive a culture of agility and creativity within the University, encouraging staff exposure to external ideas and helping position NUS as an early adopter of disruptive technology.

The Future at Work: Office of Finance Reveals Revamped Office
